Man, does the 1992-93 Topps Stadium Club set have some weird cards. Some of you may remember this one of Pat Elyniuk and his card shop that only sold the least valuable Topps cards in history.

And then there’s the classic snap of Mike Ricci riding around on a golf cart like he’s a three-year-old sitting in the driver seat of a fire engine on Take-Your-Kid-To-Work Day.

But this Craig Janney shot has me truly baffled. Where to start with this thing?

For one thing, I’ve always found non-uniform photos on hockey cards to be a bit strange. The part I’ve always loved most about hockey cards is the uniforms, not to mention the action shots of great and not-so-great players practically looking superhuman. So why the snap of Craig Janney doing his best impression of The Thinker?

If Craig is in the middle of pondering the meaning of life, like I presume he is doing, why then is he wearing his shoulder pads?

I also can’t help but feel that he is wearing children’s pajamas under his shoulder pads. The way the word “Blues” is printed just over the blue fabric on his left wrist makes me think of a pair of pajamas my four-year old wears to bed. I wonder if Craig has a favorite stuffed white bear named Snowy too.
