Talk about an absolutely essential piece of information: “Now with Nordiques”

You don’t say?

Thank goodness O-Pee-Chee took the time (and wasted some valuable black ink in the process, too!) to let us know of that fact, because not only did the Nordiques uniform throw me for a complete loop, but the word “Nordiques” printed in bright yellow certainly didn’t tip me off. I should really learn to wear my glasses when I look at my hockey cards, because I could be missing out on some important information.

This picture was actually taken early in the 1979-80 season, the Nordiques’ first in the NHL, as well as Plante’s first and only season in Quebec. He had once had seasons of 26 and 34 goals in St. Louis back in the mid-1970s, and he even scored three hat-tricks in 1974-75, but by the end of the decade his 20-goal days, and multiple hat-tricks were long gone. In 1978-79 with the Stanley Cup finalist New York Rangers, Plante scored just six goals and 25 assists, and in his final NHL season, the now-28-year-old fell to just four goals and 14 assists.
