Here’s another classic from that awful 1992-93 Topps Stadium Club set. What Claude Lapointe is doing here, and why the photographer found it to be so fascinating he just had to use this shot for this Nordique’s card is beyond me. Claude may be about to barf, but I’m really just speculating based on the pained look on his face. The Nordiques were awfully brutal during the early nineties, so throwing up was probably a popular activity in Quebec City back in the day. I was just a kid then, so I don’t remember reading a lot of reports in The Hockey News about violent bouts of vomiting, but once I get through with my latest book, I’ll have plenty of time to dedicate to researching the topic.
