God, I love the 1991 Ultimate Draft set! So many crappy cards, so little time to mock them all.

This card kinda summarizes Alek Stojanov’s career, doesn’t it? I never thought that hockey cards could tell the future, but this one pretty much nailed it on the head. For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Stojanov’s history, he was a highly regarded junior prospect who was drafted 7th overall by Vancouver in the 1991 Entry Draft. And who wouldn’t have drafted this guy so high! He was 6’4″ and tipped the scale at 225 lbs! He also racked up a fairly solid 45 points in 62 games with the Dukes of Hamilton of the OHL.  But in two season with the Canucks, he was only able to muster a single solitary point in 62 games. He was traded in March 1996 for a young prospect named Markus Naslund, who never really amounted to much, unless you consider 395 career goals and 474 career assists as routine. As for Alek, he scored a grand total of 7 points in 107 games, but hey, Pittsburgh at least reaped the benefits from six of those seven points (including both of his career goals), so it wasn’t all bad.
