In honour of the Pittsburgh Penguins winning the 2017 Stanley Cup, I present you with Alec Martinez looking very sad and eating Froot Loops with a plastic spoon out of said Cup.  I’m guessing Alec was very happy when he hoisted Lord Stanley’s mug, so I don’t understand why the photographer couldn’t get a shot of Alec, I don’t know, smiling at the camera, with his mouth full of Loops.  It looks as though Alec is thinking, “Oh, woe is me, I have to spend yet another day with this large silver chalice.  Whatever am I going to do?  I’m gonna have to dust this thing, and then put it away somewhere; it’s all just one big hassle, you know?  I guess I’ll just sit here with my cereal and look sad.  And now the sun is coming out behind me.  Will this day never end?”  Oh, by the way, when you read Alec’s quote, you have to do it in a Droopy the dog voice.  Try it, you’ll see how much fun it is.

For all I know, maybe this shot was taken the day after Alec was out celebrating something else.  Maybe he was at a friend’s bachelor party, and Alec forgot the next day was his big moment with the Cup, and when the keeper of the Cup showed up at his door with the trophy, Alec was still hungover and just getting ready to slowly eat some Froot Loops.  Who knows, but it’s fun to think about, isn’t it?
